This is a very unique design by Dr. Jerry Sevick (W2FMI). It combines a 25 ohm balun with a 2:1 unun for final transformation to 50 ohms. Used anywhere there is a need to transform 25 ohms balanced to 50 ohms unbalanced. This is an enhanced design of the balun used in the popular SteppIR yagis.

Note: This model is also available without an enclosure to use as a replacement for a damaged SteppIR balun.

Design Features:

• Special mix toroid with low permability provides broad frequency coverage and lowest loss. Toroid is coated with special polyurethane coating for long term durablity.

 

• Custom made low impedance coax is used for the balun followed by a trifilar wound unun of heavy gauge thermaleze wire. Overall voltage breakdown is increased by a layer of polymide tape on center winding (7kv).

 

• SO-239 connectors are silver plated with teflon insulator and gold plated center conductor.

 

• N connectors and alternate mounting options are available in Accessories.

 

• All hardware is stainless steel.

 

• Frequency coverage of 1 to 54 MHz

 

• Conservative power rating of 3kw continuous and 5kw intermittent.

 

• The balun is sealed in weatherproof 4" X 4" X 2" Nema Box for outdoor or indoor installation.
