Heavy duty 5kw, 4:1 balun for Multiband verticals, dipoles, log periodics etc. Utilizes stacked cores to provide an extremely high power rating across all HF frequencies and is constructed using Dr. Jerry Sevick's (W2FMI) enhanced design.
When used with a multiband antenna that requires ladder line at the feedpoint, this balun can be mounted remotely and provides an excellent transition from ladder line to coax for the final feedline run into your operating position.
Additional Photos & Models:
All of my baluns are hand made, hand wound one at a time and based on proven designs. Any other balun of comparable quality will cost between $110 and $145 on the web. I am one of the few (if not the only one) that lets you see the internal structure before you buy. They may look simple but the right components are expensive and hard to find even before attempting to wind one.
Design features:
Utilizes a design enhanced by Jerry Sevick, W2FMI, the authority on baluns. This is his 4:1 balun which he created to handle very high power.
By utilizing stacked toroids with low permeability, the low frequencies are provided the necessary choking impedance.
Windings are Thermaleze wire inserted in teflon tubes providing a breakdown voltage of 10,000 volts.
Typical insertion loss is less than 0.2 dB
Power handling of 5kw continuous 10kw intermittent upto 30mhz.
All Hardware is stainless steel. Studs are 1/4"
