For those of you who own one of the fine tuners sold by Drake, this is a balun that can easily be installed on your circuit board in place of the original windings. Not only do you receive a balun capable of much more power, you also benefit from the enhanced performance this custom winding provides.

Design Features:

Utilizes windings developed specifically for the line of Drake tuners.

By utilizing toroids with higher permeability, the low frequencies are enhanced providing better performance on 160, 80 and 40 meters.

Instead of the 18 gauge wire used by Drake, you receive a balun wound with 14 gauge Thermaleze wire inserted in teflon tubes providing a breakdown voltage of 10,000 volts.

Typical insertion loss is less than 0.1 dB

Power handling of 5kw up to 35MHz.

Insertion loss is < 0.1db

The balun is completely wound with tinned leads and ready to be soldered to the connection pads. Only a screwdriver and 100 watt soldering iron are required for installation.

This balun will handle continuous power and tolerate high SWR for extended periods.

It will not heat up at rated power, using extended duty cycles or stressing load conditions.
